Legal Definition
A phrase descriptive of the state of affairs where several different suits or actions are brought upon the same issue. It is obviated in equity by a bili of peace ; in courts of law, by a rule of court for the consolidation of different actions. Williams v. Millington, 1 H. Bl. 81; Murphy v. Wilmington. 6 Houst.
