What is Misappropriation?

In law, misappropriation is the unauthorized use of another's name, likeness, or identity without that person's permission, resulting in harm to that person.

Another use of the word refers to intentional and illegal use of property or funds; it can particularly refer to when done by a public official.

This is not a technical term of law, but it ls sometimes applied to the misdemeanor which ls committed by a banker, factor, agent, trustee, etc, who fraudulently deals with money, goods, sechrlties, etc., entrusted to him or by a director or public officer of a corporation or company who fraudulently misapplies any of its property.
