  4. George Reynolds Evans, Sr. v. Carlton Croom v. N. C. Department of Correction (1981)

    The plaintiffs, all state prisoners, appeal the dismissal of their pro se § 1983, 42 U.S.C. actions against the officials at the prison where they are incarcerated. In all the actions, the plaintiffs, by affidavit sought under § 1915(a), 28 U.S.C., authority to commence and prosecute their actions as indigents, relieved of any obligation to pay filing fees.

  6. United States v. Carlos Saunders (1989)

    Carlos Saunders appeals his convictions for assault and possession of contraband, alleging error by the trial court in refusing to admit certain defense exhibits and insufficient evidence to support the jury verdict. Finding that the jury had sufficient evidence to convict Saunders and that the trial court's contested evidentiary rulings were, at worst, harmless error, we affirm appellant's conviction.
